On Wednesday, Sept. 14, the Granite Hills varsity volleyball team battled Monache.
The girls played a very competitive game. Overall, playing four out of five games, Granite lost.
In the first intense game, the Grizzlies lost 21-25. The girls did not give up; they fought in the next game and lost, the final score being 16-25.
In the third game, striving for teamwork and confidence, the Grizzlies managed to pull it together. With aggressiveness the Grizzlies won the game 25-23.
“It was very intense; my body was like whoo, feeling good man,” said Debra Rodriguez, senior volleyball player at Granite.
In the fourth and final game, the girls made an attempt for their last chance at victory, but ended up losing 15-25.
“I was happy. Yeah we lost, but in a way we won because everyone gave an effort and tried their best,” said Lupita Flores, senior volleyball player at Granite.
Many girls are motivated by this loss to improve for their next game.
“I want to get better passes, start spiking more, and focus on keeping my head up,” said Hannah Vehrs, junior at Granite who plays on the volleyball team.
