Within the first 20 minutes, GHHS player Mercedes Steidley made the first goal of the night. However, it didn’t stop there; the girls scored goal after goal leading Granite to a 9-0 victory.

“We beat Delano the first time around and the girls understand what kind of game they want to play,” stated coach Gabe Rodriguez. “Hopefully they’ll stay aggressive and come out with a win.”

There were a lot of close calls, but Granites’ sweepers and defenders were always one step ahead of Delano.

The game was full of aggression between both teams, but Rodriguez didn’t let that faze the players. During the game, Rodriguez and the crowd constantly cheered on the players.

“The girls are committed and I am very proud of their hard work,” said Rodriguez.

At the end of the day, the girls soccer team walked away with yet another victory and the pride of being a Grizzly.

“I am definitely proud to say I am a part of the Grizzly girls’ soccer team. I think all of us do our best and play a good game,” said Victoria Paz, a freshman at Granite.
