By Taylor meansThe girls golf team has started off with a bang this year by winning both of their first matches this season.
The girls golf team consists of seniors Mayra Ramos, Carolina Rodriguez, and Karen Mejia, juniors Bailey Conley, Brooke and Alexis Quiling, and freshmen Samantha Gonzalez, Larrissa LeVasser, and Lily Mejia.
“We have four returning girls out of the nine on the team,” said Golf coach, Jerry Boyd, “This shows how these girls are committed to the sport and the time and effort it comes with.”
Boyd states that the talent this year involves girls that are dedicated to this sport. Two of their hardest matches of the year are Delano and Strathmore.
“These schools have been very challenging over the past few years due to the amount of experienced players and dedication to this sport,” stated Boyd.
The Quiling twins and Conley will continue on to represent Granite Hills High School at the Valley level. These three golf players have shown Coach Boyd how their love for the sport will help them succeed at Valley.
“What makes golf so interesting is the opportunity to play and it is also very individually challenging” said Ramos.
This golf season is coming to an end, the players are confident and they are proud of what they have accomplished.
