The Granite Hills High School girls’ junior varsity basketball team went to El Jacalito for dinner on Tuesday, February 1. The whole team showed up to bond together and become more like a family.
Bubba Hernandez, the head coach, wanted the girls to be able to work better together so that they could start winning games.
“This has helped our team be more comfortable with each other. We will be more like a family during practices and games, and start to play better together,” said sophomore point guard Tracy Carrillo.
“I really enjoyed getting to know my teammates better outside of school and practice,” said sophomore Vanessa Felix.
There are 12 girls on this year’s team, juniors Mariela Tapia, Justina Fabela, Isabella Gonzalez, Lupe Delgado, Ke’ana Franco, Kelsey Blackburn, sophomores Tracey Carrillo, Vanessa Felix, Eli Rodriguez, Carolina Flores, Vanessa Pena, and Ashley Anderson.
“I think that this dinner really helped. I feel like the girls have bonded with each other and have become more like a team. Hopefully they take that bond onto the court,” said Hernandez.
