A New Tradition

By Rachel LambGranite Hills Cheerleaders are known for showing school spirit, supporting different school activities, and cheering on Granite’s athletics teams.
They love letting the whole student body know they are cheering them on, no matter what the activity may be.
The cheerleaders have started a new tradition of bringing cookies and punch on important game days.
“I think it’s important to reach out to all of our teams,” said head coach Mindy Boyer. “We obviously can’t be on the golf course yelling cheers but we can pump them up with some treats and well wishes! It’s difficult to be at every event all the time, but we do want all teams at GHHS to know we’re cheering them on.”
By giving some of the Grizzlies a cookie, cup of punch, and wishing them good luck, it is the cheerleaders hope that when the students compete they will know that they are being supported by the Granite Hills cheerleaders even if they cannot be on the sidelines.
“This new tradition is definitely a keeper; I’ve heard nothing but good feedback and it makes us as a squad feel like we’re covering all of those competing and we believe everyone should be cheered on, which is what we plan on accomplishing,” stated Madison Stubbs, sophomore varsity cheerleader.
The Granite Hills cheerleaders are working diligently at making every Grizzly feel important.
“I thought it was very nice of the cheerleaders to put on this event for all of us,” said Hannah Vehrs, varsity volleyball player. “It got me even more excited for our game that night.”
