Racy politicians

Herman Cain has stepped down from his Republican presidential nomination due to allegations of sexual harassment and an affair. I am not surprised.
In the past two years, there were a reported eight scandals involving men that possess political power. From the ex-Representative Anthony Weiner, who sent sexually suggestive photos of himself to various women over Twitter, to former Representative David Wu, who was accused of making unwanted sexual advances to a woman, this year has seen it all.
But why do male politicians do this? Do they have an over-inflated ego because they hold power? Do they feel that women are indebted to them because of their position in our government? I guess in the world of politics, males do not use cheesy pick-up lines to try to talk to women, but instead show them their government identification card and expect women to jump on them because they "run the government.”
Well, sad to say, these scandals are not only topics for Stephen Colbert's and Jon Stewart's jokes for their audiences, but deeply demoralizing and revealing. Most of the politicians that are caught in a sex scandal usually have a wife and children. I can hardly imagine the horror John Edward's children had when they learned that their dad had fathered a child with another woman. I would not vote for any politician who has been accused of any type of sex crime or infidelity because those men do not deserve the power they have been entrusted with by the people. They are not that mature either, making stupid choices that ruin reputations and families.
It seems that scandals are integrated into our politics and it is very sad to see politicians who have been trusted and deemed responsible by the people involved with infidelity and indiscretion. I am grateful for the politicians who are not involved in these horrendous scandals, standing up for what is right and making the American people proud.
