This year, Granite Hills High School is going to Six Flags Magic Mountain for Grad Night.
“I am excited to end the year with some of my closest friends in a fun and exciting environment,” said Jody Georgianna, senior at Granite Hills.
In past years, Granite has attended Grad Night at Disneyland, but this year the senior adviser called for a change. Instead, senior grizzlies will be spending the night at Six Flags.
“Grad Night is a night for seniors to have a night to have fun, let down their hair and have a great time with each other,” said Nathan Keith, senior advisor for Granite Hills.
The experience at Six Flags will not be any different than at Disneyland; the only difference will be the rides and the park. In fact, the cost of the tickets for Six Flags is less than the cost of the tickets for Disneyland in the past years.
“Disneyland is a family place for younger kids. I think that Six Flags’ atmosphere is better for high school students,” said Georgianna.
The park will open its doors just to seniors, which means that the lines for the roller coaster rides will be much shorter. The ticket will include dinner, a souvenir photo, exclusive access to certain roller coasters, and a return ticket to Hurricane Harbor.
The dinner is a two hour all you can eat buffet; there will also be a dance with a live band during dinner and throughout the night.
During dinner, there will be two open roller coaster rides, which will be exclusively open to just to schools that purchased this ticket. At 11:30 p.m., Six Flags will open the rest of the 18 roller coaster rides.
“I am glad they switched Grad Night from Disneyland to Six Flags because Six Flags is more of a place for teenagers. I am really excited and truly looking forward to going on Grad Night as a senior next year,” said Maria Corona, junior at Granite Hills.
Grad Night will be happening on Thursday, May 17, which is a week before Granite Hills’ graduation. Seniors will be at Six Flags from 9 p.m. until the next day at 5:30 a.m.
The total cost of the bus and the ticket is $110 per person. Out of this money, $40 is non-refundable which will go to the bus.
Students can begin to make payments at the student activities window; an account will be made to keep track of each student’s payments.
“The sooner seniors begin making payments, the better because we will know exactly how many buses and how many tickets to purchase,” said Keith.
For more information, contact Nathan Keith in room 1114 or visit Yvonne Martinez at the activities window.
