Lorin Bartlett graduated Granite Hills in 2006 and attended college at the University of the Pacific. He graduated college in 2010 and now lives in Australia.

“I am extremely happy I went to Granite,” said Bartlett.

Bartlett majored in business administration with a concentration in marketing.

“Before I came here I was a finance professional for First Investors Corporation in Walnut Creek,” said Bartlett, “now, I am coaching water polo and life guarding.”

He now works in Australia as a water polo coach and a life guard.

“Lorin was an amazing athlete, and a wonderful role model for everyone,” stated Granite teacher Jane Kisling.

Bartlett liked the water polo program and the atmosphere at Granite.

“My best memories were with my best friends on the water polo team, and the overall atmosphere,” said Bartlett, “People were involved, excited, and enthusiastic to be at Granite; to learn, and to win. This atmosphere was contagious from the staff down to the students.”

Bartlett enjoyed the pool, dances, and people at Granite.

“The fantastic facilities were great,” said Bartlett, “having an Olympic pool was great. Dances on the pyramid were awesome as well, but the people that shaped me into the man I am today were the most important to me.”

Many teachers enjoyed having Bartlett as a student.

“Lorin is and was an extremely funny and intelligent athlete,” stated teacher at Granite Laura Sanford. “I just knew he was going to be something great.”

There is one main reason why Bartlett lives in Australia, so far away from his family.

“I live here to play water polo and travel before I start a family and a real life,” said Bartlett.

Granite Hills Chemistry teacher Julie Chapman stated, "I wasn't surprised that he plays professional water polo, I knew he would or go to the Olympics."

For Bartlett, Australia is a calm, cool, beautiful place to live.

“Australia is like I would imagine the United States in the late seventies,” said Bartlett, “a little bit more laid back, and most of the beautiful wild life is pristine.”

Bartlett is still in the process of figuring out his life and what he wants to do after graduate school.

“My goal is to finish graduate school in marketing,” said Bartlett, “or to finish pharmacy school. I was pre-pharmacy when I first started at UOP and I do miss science/medicine.”

Chapman also remembered Bartlett as, "A bright and determined, hard working student. He passed the AP Chemistry exam and the AP Physics exam."
