MECHA is a club that helps spread the knowledge of Hispanic culture. MECHA is not only for Chicano students but also for other students that would like to explore a new culture. The club performs many acts of community service, from multi-cultural events to simple money fundraisers. Their main goal is to demonstrate to other people and mainly themselves the beauty in their culture and their traditions. Students who participate in MECHA consider themselves a family.
Opinions:
Alejandra Herrera: "Not only are we a club, we are also a family gathered to help our community."
Jereniss Alcantar: "I think MECHA is a club that helps spread the knowledge of Mexican origin, and that is something we all need to learn."
Celina Cervantes: "MECHA helps us maintain our traditions and is a great way to explore and maintain our culture close to our hearts."

This is Micaela Lara, one of the founding members for MeChA at GHHS. I am proud to see that this student organization has been growing strong since it’s founding in 2006. I’m currently living in New York City and plan to visit Porterville this April 2012. I would love to attend one of your meetings during that time! Keep me posted!
