Debuting on March 30, 2009, the Snuggie is a luxurious, fleece blanket with sleeves.

As the common advertisement for this product states, “Do you want to get warm when you’re feeling chill, but you don’t want to raise your heating bill? Blankets are okay, but they can slip and slide and when you need to reach for something, your hands are trapped inside.”

As conflicted as one’s situation may sound, here is your $19.95 solution.

Consumers no longer have to be worried about being restricted with their normal blanket and they have absolute freedom of movement.

Unlike a blanket, you can use it at chilly outdoor activities like sporting events. The Snuggie comes in three colors: royal blue, burgundy, and sage green. Not only will you keep toasty in a thick, comfy blanket, you will look stylish in it too.

“Its amazing! I love it,” says senior Sheng Lor.

It is also a one-size-fits-all product. Now what is even more favorable for Snuggie lovers is that it is customizable. People can now get logos printed on it.

“The snuggie is a simple yet innovative product,” says former student at Granite Lamarcus Bailey.

Over 4 million Snuggies have been sold all across America. As entertaining, practical, yet cheesy at it seemed, the Snuggie is an obvious, huge hit.

As some may claim it to be a “pop culture phenomenon,” others believe the Snuggie to be a joke.

“It’s stupid; [you] might as well go get a sweater or turn on the heater,” says senior Eduardo Gamboa.

Critics have called it a “threatening Cult of the Snuggie.”

Jay Leno, from the Jay Leno show, questions the Snuggie’s very purpose when he states, “Why not just put your robe on backwards?”

The Snuggie is a ridiculous product that has once again, like other $19.95 products, hypnotized it’s viewers - okay, “lured” in it’s viewers with clever techniques: for one, $19.95 is actually a reasonable price for such a massive blanket...with sleeves. For two, it has that comical aspect to it; if it is funny, people will buy it. For three, it is customizable; by letting the consumers have the capability for changing their Snuggie however they want, it is a more favorable product. By combining all three elements, the product will sell, sell, sell.
