Do you not only want to work with the top producers of the music business, but walk away with a $5 million contract?
On Fox, 8/7c, the series, X Factor, gives the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity for that small town Joe to finally show the world his wonderful gift: singing.
Auditions for X Factor that are held at locations like Los Angeles, California and New York are quite different from the American Idol auditions; instead of auditioning in a small room, each hope-filled person sings in front of a live, huge audience on a massive stage.
One can only imagine the intensity and how nerve-racking it is on the stage.
“The X-factor is a very inspirational show that gives the underdog a chance at fame," says senior Ernestina Quintero.
And no, I did not forget about the lovely judges. What more does a show need than the cynical, Simon Cowell? Once again, Cowell not only creates a smash hitting series, but he also one of the swinging judges.
Let’s not forget about his beautiful, partner in crime, Paula Abdul. After leaving American Idol about a year ago, she’s back on the judging market for X Factor.
Let’s guess the next judge, shall we? He is a three-time Grammy Award-winning US record executive, songwriter, and record producer. He was responsible for signing artists such as Rihanna, Mariah Carey, and Justin Beiber. Who else but L.A. Reid. Reid really gives the show that spark.
Finally, saving the best for last, who can forget the stunning, Nicole Scherzinger. Abdul isn’t the only sweetheart within the judges now.
In X Factor, after the audition round, the contestants are divided into four categories: girls between 12 and 30, boys between 12 and 30, individuals over 30, and groups.
Although having a lot of hype for this new, exciting show, others believe that it missed the mark
“It never really caught my attention; it is like a remake of American Idol,” says junior Keyla Osequera.
Cowell had reportedly stated that if the show did not reach 20 million viewers, it was a failure. X Factor had reached about 12.5 million viewers, but does this count as a failure? Although it didn’t reach Cowell’s expectations, nor did it even come close to the American Idol ratings (23.4 million viewers in 2010), many viewers only have positive comments about the series.
“It seems like a really good show because I have heard some of the great singers from the show through friends and Youtube,” says former student Ceasar Casalda.
Talent is high, and competition is close; only the best of best will make it through the grueling hardships of the singers.
