Jersey Shore

Fake tans, over-chiseled bodies, outrageous partying, and confused “love”; what other life is more perfect than this?
At ten o’clock, if you click on MTV, you will see nothing but fist pumps and over grown partiers.
The Jersey Shore cast consists of the oblivious, yet beloved Nicole Polizzi (aka Snooki), the go-to DJ, Paul DeVecchio (aka Pauly D), the “fun-sized” Deena Cortese, the fiesty Jenni Farley (aka. J-Woww), the sweetheart, Sammi Giancola (aka. Sammi sweetheart), the chick-magnet, Michael Sorrentino (aka. The Situation), the ill-tempered Ronnie Ortiz-Magro, and finally the “Dr. Phil” of the house, Vinny Guadagnino.
Every week on Thursdays, America’s favorite guidos and guidettes go on a rampage to primarily enjoy themselves at their new location: Italy. Although, along the way, conflicts unfold and soon brings the entire cast, for example, to try and attempt to stop Ortiz-Magro from severely hurting Sorrentino. Students may be thinking why anyone would find this show entertaining?
Shockingly, the season four premiere of Jersey Shore is the number 4 non-sports cable telecast of 2011. MTV reports that the highly-anticipated premiere grabbed a record 8.8 million viewers.
“It’s so entertaining, there’s like drama and I like it. It’s what makes me want to watch the next episode,” says senior at Granite Adilene Quintana. According to Quintana, the reason why so many people watch it is because of conflicts, fights, humor, and romance.
Although many may like this ridiculous show, many have also found it to be very repulsive and simply idiotic. The Jersey Shore portrays the life of partying and drinking to be seen in society as “okay.” In fact, it is the absolute defiance and evidence of what teenager’s parents told them what not to do.
“Jersey Shore is a really offending show. It has an extremely bad influence on teens that watch it,” says senior at Granite Kathleen Jurkovich.
What is even more ridiculous than DeVecchio’s extremely gel-raised hair is that each member, starting the premiere of Season 4, is paid about $100,000 each episode they make.
The entire cast is actually being paid for the many one-night stands and late-night clubbing. Although this industry is totally corrupt and has a major influence on teens around the world, millions of viewers will still continue to watch the uneducated and purposeless show, even if they can’t find a reason why.
“I just like to see what the fuss is, why everybody likes it, or how they became so famous. I’m not too sure why people are so interested in watching the life of party people,” says junior at Granite Vanessa Felix.
