It’s that time of the year again where everyone can show their friends and lovers some love.
Valentine’s Day is not that far away to start planning the gifts for those special people.
Getting roses is not as difficult as it sounds. Granite Hills High School has a floral arrangement class where students can order roses. Students may go to room 606 and order your valentine’s arrangement There are a dozen roses or carnations, six wrapped roses or carnations, chocolate roses, single wrapped rose or carnations, and single wrapped rose with a teddy, and balloon. Prices of the flowers will be finalized no later than Monday.
“This year I am going to get my boyfriend cologne and a shirt. Last year I gave my boyfriend a teddy bear,” stated senior Selena Ramirez.
On Valentine’s Day, Granite is filled with students who bring their friends and loved ones a special gift. Everyone has different ways of showing people their love every year.
“Every year I like to get my friends a little gift. I don’t like to give the same things so I try and give something different every time. Some things I give out are like poems, letters, chocolates and cards,” explained senior Lourdes Moreno.
Some families have different Valentine’s Day traditions. Such traditions include baking cookies, decorating hearts, writing poems for each other, sending Valentine’s cards, and giving each other chocolates.
“My family gets really into Valentine’s Day. We like to give out cards and chocolates to my grandparents and we always send them flowers,” said senior Rocio Zepeda.
Statistics show that more men buy flowers than women.
Twenty-five percent of adults purchased flowers or plants as gifts for Valentine's Day 2010; of those, sixty percent were men and forty percent were women.
“I think it is really thoughtful and nice when someone sends roses to someone else. I have not had any roses sent to me but I know someday I will,” assured senior Maria Chavez.
