On October 14, the Granite Hills concert choir preformed at the College of the Sequoias Festival at Redwood High School.
Several schools preformed, including: Mount Whitney, Golden West, El Diamanté, Porterville, Monache, Redwood, Hanford, and COS.
“I thought the students did a very fabulous job, especially for being the first official performance this season,” said choir teacher, Susan Efseaff.
Although it was a great experience for every school, some students thought the festival was a little boring.
“Parts of it [the festival] were boring because of the waiting because I was eager to sing,” said senior, Rosendo Vallejo.
Each school had the chance to perform. Granite’s choir sang “Ah Si Mon Moine Voulart Danser” and “This May Be the Last Time”.
“The French piece was the hardest because each section had its own part and you had to come in at different times,” said Vallejo.
Overall, Granite did very well at the performance.
“I think as a group we did pretty good, it was my first time but I think we did as good as the other groups, we kept up as competition and we are legit,” said Junior, Winston Thao.
The choir students had the great opportunity of watching the college choir perform.
“It was amazing, we got to see the college preform and see that even after high school they still continue to go and sing,” said senior Sheng Lor.
Chamber choir’s next event will be held at the Fresno State Invitational Festival.
