 A million lights danced across the deep blue mirror, and my tiny face reflected a thousand times. The smell of my grandfather’s shaving cream filled the air as wave after wave of running water splashed onto my body like a rock in the ocean resting atop the sink. Looking around, I caught the open window. There the city was on fire, a million lights glaring from the unmarked homes, a million souls floating up from the smoky ash.
