Senior varsity soccer player Ryan Carlton has been playing soccer for twelve years and counting. He has only been on varsity for one year, but has made his efforts count. Starting at left-fullback for the Grizzlies, Carlton effortlessly stops any ball that comes his way, having 6 years of experience playing this position under his belt.
"Ryan has done an excellent job this year and has helped us out a lot on defense this year," said teammate Julian Espino.
Off the field, Carlton is a typical senior attending Granite Hills High School. He maintains a steady 3.0 grade point average, and plans on attending a four year college once he graduates. Carlton is very interested in going off to Chico State wanting to major in civil engineering. Carlton also is hoping to play soccer at the college level, depending upon which college he attends.
"Honestly, I'll miss some of the teachers, but I'm going to miss the atmosphere and all of the great friends I have made the most," stated Carlton when asked what he would miss the most about high school.
Carlton also claimed that he is really going to miss his soccer friends that he has made playing soccer all four years at Granite.
"My most memorable moment out on the field would have to be my freshman year, when I scored a goal from forty yards out; it is something that I will never forget," stated Carlton.
Outside of Granite Hills, Carlton enjoys hanging out with friends from the other two high schools and going to the movies. He also enjoys traveling. On his off time, he is usually found on the soccer fields practicing for his club team called the Sequoia Gateway. "I just love playing soccer," said Carlton.
Carlton's parents are the two that have motivated him in life, and are the reason as to why he has done so well so far.
"They're the ones that have taught me what's wrong and what's right," added Carlton.
David Beckham has also influenced Carlton, considering that he has always been his idol. Carlton lives by the quote, "Dream as if you live forever, live as if you die today."
