Last year our boys soccer team played the Delano Tigers three times and lost all but 1 game. This year is a different story with up and coming star Ivan Yanez and sophomore Tommy Brumfeild leading the Grizzlies to tame the Tigers in a 5-2 victory at Granite Hills on Monday, December 17.
 
Coming in confident, the Grizzlies felt unbeatable as they came off a two game winning streak prior to the game.

During the first half, the Tigers dominated the Grizzlies 2-0 as the cold of the night settled in. The Tigers simplistic style of just doing the fundamentals gave them the only lead they would have on the night.
 
The second half was the second coming for the Grizzlies, as former varsity football kicker Louie Espino dribbled the ball down the sideline for a Grizzly goal.
 
Shortly after Espino’s goal, Brumfeild stole the ball and dribbled past multiple Delano defenders and assisted Yanez for his first goal on the night.
 
Louie Espino assisted yet another goal, embarrassing the brightly colored Delano goalie for a second time.
 
Yanez returned with two back-to-back goals in under 3 minutes of play with Brumfield and Ryan Carleton shutting down the Tiger.

After the game Ivan said, "I played great, I got 3 goals for my team and I hope we can keep this three game wining streak alive.

Coach Espino soon followed in saying, "We need to work on our constancy we let Delano in the game early and that should not have happened.”
 
With this win, the boys JV and varsity soccer teams are on a 3 game winning streak and they hope to keep it alive as they travel to Delano to face the Cesar Chavez Titians on December 18, so support your Grizzlies and check the Grizzly Gazette for all your sports news.
