Grizzlies face Panthers in first meet

The Granite Hills track and field team faced the Porterville Panthers in a scrimmage game. The Grizzlies won 6 of the 13 events that were placed.
The first event was the 4x4 relay. The Grizzly girls ran first and had a time of 59.22 seconds. While, the Panther girls had a time of 57.22. The Grizzly boys out ran the Panthers with a time of 49.3. Porterville had the time 65.4.
The next event was the 1600 meters. The Grizzly girls had no runners for this event. Porterville’s Seth Bowser won with a time 5 minutes 9 seconds. The Grizzlies’ Sal Madrigal came in second with a time of 5 minutes and 27 seconds.
The Grizzlies third event was the 110 Hurdles. The Grizzlies’ Louie Espino came in first with the time of 17.2 seconds. The Panther’s Anthony Cemo had a time of 17.3 seconds.
The 400 meter was the next event. The Granite Hill’s Katie Taylor came in first with the time of 65.3. Porterville’s Abigal De La Cruz came in second with the time of 65.3. For the boys, Louie Espino had the highest time with 57.9.
“I felt really good about today’s match,” said freshman Katie Taylor.
The fourth event was the 100 meter dash. The Grizzlies’ Manuel Herrera ran in at first with the time of 12.1
The next event was the 800 meter. Porterville’s Seth Bowser came in first with a time of 2:14 seconds. Granite Hill’s Sal Madrigal came in second with a time of 2 minutes and 18 seconds.
The final event was the 200 meter. Grizzly girl Katie Taylor came in first with a time of 29.41 seconds. Grizzly boy Manuel Herrera also came in first with a time of 25.1.

The Track team will finish their meet on Thursday, February 28.
