As football players start to condition for next year’s season, they also start to fundraise for some well deserved new uniforms. The Granite Hills football teams are working together to raise money for new uniforms on Saturday, February 1, 2007. Football players and coaches alike are coming together at Jamison Stadium for the first ever "Grizzly Football 100 mile Super bowl run."
The event is very simple. The "Grizzly Football 100 mile Super bowl run" is a fundraiser to help raise money for the future uniforms. The event starts at 8 a.m. and ends when the football players reach their goal of a hundred miles.
The three Granite Hills football teams, varsity, jr. varsity, and freshman, have been asking the community for pledges. They will then rotate running, walking, or jogging the track of Jamison Stadium. There will be at least one member of any football team on the track at all times.
This fundraiser will definitely be a help to the football players. Unlike Granite, other schools receive new uniforms every year. This will be the first time that Granite will be able to replace uniforms in three years.
"When you look nice, it raises morale for the whole school," said Varsity Coach Mann.
The boys of the football teams realize that this fundraiser will benefit the teams. “The uniforms will make us look good, and help us come together,” said Zachary Contreras, of the junior varsity team.
The expected amount to raise was one hundred dollars. Some of the boys have met, or exceeded this expectation. After Saturday, the boys will be able to pay for new uniforms and look forward to a fresh start, with a fresh look, fresh mentality, and a fresh season.
So, come out Saturday, February 1, beginning at 8a.m. to support Grizzly football players at Jamison Stadium. With your support, the Grizzlies will not only reach their goal, but start a new tradition as well.
