With the Lady Panthers formerly pummeling the Lady Grizzlies, 29-54, the Lady Grizzlies still hoped to have a chance at beating their cross-town rival, Porterville. The Lady Panthers however, had no remorse for the Lady Grizzlies, even if this would be their last game of the season. The Lady Panthers pulverized the Lady Grizzlies 62-34.

Lady Panther Cori Snyder and Lady Grizzly Emily Fechner started the game off with the jump ball. Lady Grizzlies won the jump ball starting them off with possession.

As the game began, the clock would continue to tick down with no points up on the board, until Lady Panther Noel Garcia, put up a shot in the key with 5 minutes left of the first quarter and scored for the Panthers. Garcia started the fire that soon began to spread like a forest fire on a windy day, for the Lady Panthers.

With the Panthers on fire both on defense and offense, the Lady Grizzlies only managed to hit 3 3’s in the first quarter.

Lady Grizzly Angela Rispoli came back onto the court determined to get some more points on the board for her team, she put a shot up and got fouled and then sank both of her free throws.
Even with Rispoli attacking, the Lady Grizzlies just couldn’t find a spark to help them get on fire. The Lady Panthers continued to score, and stop Granite. Granite’s only hope was for Vanessa Ortiz to continue hitting her 3’s.

Coming out of half the Lady Grizzlies had a new attitude and Ortiz hit 3 3’s in a row. However, with Porterville up by 18 points, the Lady Panthers began to set up their offense and run down the clock.

As the third quarter came to an end the Panthers held a 28 point lead on the Lady Grizzlies. Lady Grizzly’s point guard “Q” Fuston tried to get her team back together, but the Panthers continued to overwhelm Granite

As the game came to the last quarter the fire that Panther’s were on only became hotter and bigger, as for the Grizzlies they continued to get burned.

Porterville ended the game with a repeating victory over the Grizzlies. Final score being 62-34.

“Granite has gotten better, they are a lot better this time than last time we played them,” stated Porterville’s head coach Tiny Hill.

Porterville will continue on with their season Wednesday 13 playing Monache for a chance at the league title, at Monache High School at 7:00 p.m.
