The Lady Grizzlies stepped onto the court Monday 4, ready to play their last home basketball game of the season, against the Delano Tigers. The ladies wanted to play their best and come out on top but that didn’t happen, Lady Tigers defeated the Grizzlies 32-54.

With the game being Lady Grizzly Angela Rispoli’s last home game of her high school career, she stated, “I wanted to play my best game possible, and come out with a win.”

Lady Grizzly Emily Fechner and Lady Tiger Lupe Luna started the game off with a jump ball. Granite won starting the Lady Grizzlies off with possession.

The first field goal of the night was when Lady Grizzly Fechner got the ball at the block and put it up scoring Granite 2 points. Shortly after Lady Tiger Crystal Bueno, followed Fechner, and put 2 points on the board for the Tigers.

As the first quarter went by the game continued to be a close game, both the Lady Grizzlies and Lady Tigers were putting up a fight to get control of the game.

The second quarter the Lady Tigers began to notice Granite’s weak spot, they continued to attack and Grizzlies continued to allow them to score. “We were running a 2-3 zone defense and our guards couldn’t cover their shooters,” stated Rispoli.

The Lady Tigers began to control the game setting the tempo for the Lady Grizzlies, as the Grizzlies began to rely on Rispoli, as their key scorer.

Coming back onto the court after the half, the Lady Grizzlies came out with their heads hung low, as the Lady Tigers held their heads up high.

Delano Tigers didn’t give any sympathy to the Lady Grizzlies as they came back onto the court and started scoring baskets left and right. The Lady Tigers held the Lady Grizzlies to only 3 baskets during the third quarter.

Lady Grizzly Fechner came back onto the court and scored a free throw for the Lady Grizzlies. However, the Lady Tigers were not going to allow the Lady Grizzlies to catch up or even let them get a come back.

The Lady Tigers ended the game with a “Sunday Punch” to the Grizzlies. The Final score was 32-54.
