Granite Hills and Tulare Western girls and boys swim teams started league off at the Granite Hills High School Aquatic Center Friday, March 29, 2008.

The host Granite Hills lost with a score of 120. Tulare Western came out on top with an overall score of 160.

The most impressive swimmer of the meet was Juliane Wright, who qualified for Valley in both her 100 Breast and 100 Butterfly.

“I was shocked to qualify in butterfly, and happy to qualify in breast because I qualified last year in that event,” Wright stated when asked how she felt about qualifying so early in league.

Other star swimmers were Salvador Ramirez who took first in his 500 and 200 Free, and Doug Maynor who took first in his 50 and 100 Free.

With Granite’s swimmers swimming their hearts out, they can only improve. Granite’s next swim meet will be Friday April 4, 2008 against cross-town rivals Monache High School at the Monache’s pool.
