The Larissa Schuster murder trial
Larissa Schuster murdered her husband, cut him up in pieces, and then put the pieces in hydrochloric acid. Can you believe it?

Many Americans, whether old or young, have been keeping up with the notorious trial and conviction of local Larissa Schuster. If you, the reader, have not been keeping up with the current news, then I present to you the Larissa Schuster Murder Trail.

Schuster was a Clovis resident accused of murdering her husband and stuffing him into a fifty-five gallon barrel of hydrochloric acid. Schuster then patiently awaited trial for four years. Her trail began this year on October 18, in which she greeted one hundred and fifty potential jurors. On December 12, 2007, Schuster was found guilty for first degree murder. Her sentence? Life in prison with no possibility of parole.

The interesting thing about the case is that there is a fellow Grizzly who personally knew Larissa Schuster and her victim/husband Timothy Schuster: Mrs. Nancy Owen.

Mrs. Owen is a married woman with horses, dogs, and a new house. She also is a teacher of AP Biology and Earth Science here at Granite. Mrs. Owen is also, most interestingly, a former employee of Larissa Schuster. Owen worked with Schuster in a private Chemistry lab from 1991 to 1998.

During the trial it was brought to light the Schuster had an accomplice: a man by the name of James Fagone. It was thought by many that Fagone was Schuster’s “other man.” Mrs. Owen, however, states that “as far as [she knew] Larissa did not have a man on the side.”

When asked if Mrs. Owen thought Schuster had any violent tendencies Mrs. Owen simply responded by saying, “I did not think she was violent. I thought she was more passive aggressive.” Owen also stated that Schuster “was hard to work with, she was very demanding, a perfectionist, and a control freak” but she showed no signs of pre-murderous or violent behaviors. Mrs. Owen observed that Schuster “was very domineering, or in control of the marriage” whenever Mr. and Mrs. Schuster together.

When Mrs. Owen was enlightened as to the fact of Mr. Schuster’s disappearance, the last thing Mrs. Owen thought was that Schuster had killed her husband. Mrs. Owen just thought he was missing. However, “after she was accused, I kind of though that it was possible that she killed him,” Mrs. Owen stated.

Mrs. Owen thinks it is weird knowing a convicted criminal, especially since she never expected such behavior from someone that she worked closely with for 7 years.

This situation shows people how deceiving even the closest of companions can be.  Don’t trust anyone that might appear to only be a “control freak.”  They just might get angry enough one day to dice you up and submerge the pieces in hydrochloric acid.

After watching Law & Order and CSI, people tend to think that the murder cases they portray are merely scary stories dreamt up.  Reality holds more truth than fiction.

The Larissa Schuster murder trial
Wow. I had never heard of this trial until now. It's scary to know that even someone close to you can end up being a murder. I don't understand how someone could murder anyone, for that matter.
This shows you how bad the world really is.
