Granite Hills’ drama students wondered what other options they would have for the rest of the school year after losing drama class teacher, Joel Buringrud, who now teaches at Strathmore high school.
Susanna Efseaff was more than excited to take hold the reins and open up a new option to those students. Now, along with choir, she teaches seventh period Music Production.
The class is off to a great start but there is currently only four students enrolled in the course. “It’s a fun and entertaining class to look forward to at the end of the day. [I] like the environment and I love to do improvisation. The class has a lot to do with acting and film which is what I hope to get into after high school,” said Shyann Jobe. She was the first girl out of the four to join and is enjoying every minute of it.
Efseaff looks forward to building up each and every student to not only become a wonderfully talented singing and dancing actor, but also to give them a new boost of self-confidence and expression. Through vocal exercises students practice speaking and singing clearly, to project, articulate, and to help them hit every note that is put in front of them.
Students at all levels are accepted. Anyone who is willing to learn and who is open to trying new things is welcomed to join in on the fun. The goals of Efseaff are not easy to accomplish, but are very achievable. “I would like to expand the class to eventually have not just more students, but to start fully casted productions, collaborated with the other performing arts at Granite Hills.” With that said the curtains are closed with the hopes that some of you will come out and join the new, and growing, seventh period, Musical Production Class.
