Well Behaved Women, oh my!

"We started [up] about a year ago as a complete 100% joke,” jokes the guitarist of Well Behaved Women, Dave. But that is far from an accurate description of this hardcore band.
The story begins in the food court at their local mall. Dave and ex-WBW member Zach were eating Chinese food with their very close friend Jesse, discussing their favorite bands, and somehow got on the subject of starting their own band. This soon became a contest, guitarist Dave tells the Gazette, “Jesse bet us we couldn’t make a band and we bet him back that we could write a legit song in one night. So we went home and birthed our first song, "Jesse you’re so Black", the song [was] entirely making fun of Jesse. It was a total joke, but people liked it” With a song finished, they decided to continue their progress and write two more songs. After they had completed their first three songs, they decided to create a Myspace account under the name of Bring the Electric Storm. Only a week after they had created their band site, they were offered to play a show at a new venue called Mainstage in Pompton Lakes, New Jersey. They accepted the offer and began the writing process once again. “Our first show was a disaster, I couldn't hear the drum machine and had nothing to play along to. But somehow… everyone thought we were good, no lie. We got a lot of compliments from other bands and made friends with some of them. We made friends with all of the members of Doctor Crocodile, another local band.”
With a growing fan base, they decided to write some more songs and change the name of their band. “We wrote 8 songs and decided to record an EP; some of these songs were now more serious. We recorded the EP in Matt’s (the guitarist of Doctor Crocodile) basement with his Pro-Tools and…it sounded like crap.” Not very long after they put their new demo on Myspace, they inducted their other good friend, Mike, into the band. With a new member, they changed up things a little bit, with a name change. They were serious about their music, but still wanted to make people laugh. “We decided on Well Behaved Women Seldom Make History as a joke, we knew people would either hate it or laugh, and we didn’t really care which it was.”
Everyone in the band is huge movie buffs and love to incorporate that in their music, “We're huge fans of movie samples and funny memorable parts such as the Jaws breakdown in “Quints Last Stand,” people just get into it” The song is streaming at the bottom of this article.
Now with help from other bands, they decided that they were going to be more serious and take their music seriously, which meant they needed to get rid of what could hold them back, “Zach was just kicked out of the band due to personal reasons.” With the loss of their vocalist, they recruited another friend, Alexis, who, apparently, is “the…man” Zach’s final show was on January 24 at Mainstage.
WBW have been constantly practicing and writing new material for a full-length demo that is due to release on their Myspace any day. They are going to record it at Asian Invasion Studios. “We've been practicing more frequently and are finishing up the full length (we have 9 songs, plan on making 1 more) and are going to record at Asian Invasion studios in a month give or take.” With an EP due out, they have been playing and booking countless shows, including one with Elysia.
On that note, I leave you with a quote from guitarist Dave, “We hope to blow up and we just want people to listen to our music, maybe laugh at our samples, and have fun and mosh to our breakdowns. Life is one big joke, we're just having fun with it, making fun of other bands, making fun of ourselves, and at the same time writing serious music and going nuts on stage.”
You can visit, comment, or just talk to the guys on their Myspace, which is www.myspace.com/wellbehavedwomen.
