Mega Show for Mega Kids
Merrissa Camarena | 11/14/07 | Music Box
Hey kids! Guess what the Entertainment staff has planned for you! It's called "Mega Show for Mega Kids," what it is is a show featuring 6 bands such as And Then He Came, Day of Our Shipwreck, In Times of Distress, She Is the Disaster, Dead In The Wake and Of Love and Wrath.

The show is scheduled to start at 6 p.m. and ending near 11 p.m. on November 16, 2006. The doors will open around 5:30 p.m. and you absolutely need your high school identification card. If for whatever reason your card is not available to you, please get a copy of your schedule from your school's office or guidance center. This event is open to all high schools students in or near town. It will be held in the Granite Hills High School cafeteria and admission will be $5 at the door. Entrance is only allowed through the doors facing Putnam Street, known to Granite Hills’ students as the Grandma's snack bar.

As some know, earlier in the year, the staff hosted their first fundraiser like this. It was hosted on February 2, 2007 and was called "The Greatest Benefit Show Ever!" The Gazette raised nearly $500 profit which went to paying towards their Denver hotel room and conference fees. Now, this year they are hoping to raise a bit more than that to help fund their April trip to Anaheim, CA for the National Scholastic's Press Association Spring Conference, otherwise known as the NSPA. The Gazette hopes to repeat as a nationally awarded high school online newspaper. They were voted top three in the nation by a panel of judges in Denver, CO, the year before that they were first recognized as top seven in the nation.

The Entertainment staff encourages all who attend to keep to the dress code. They ask that those of you who come will refrain from wearing any clothing that shows too much and covers too little, also clothing with any profanity or anything that subjects to obvious violence. Also, no drugs, alcohol, smoking or fighting will be tolerated. “We are not subjecting to anyone in particular, just ensuring the rules and avoiding conflict,” informs reporter, Christin Gamez. “We do encourage as many people as possible to show up and support the Grizzly Gazette in achieving our goals and to enjoy the fine music played by these bands.”

Please keep in mind that this is a high school newspaper. Please make your responses professional and appropriate. Any comments deemed inappropriate will not be posted.
