Megafest Update
Merrissa Camarena| 03/28/08 | Meag Noise
As many may or may not know, this Saturday, March 29, 2008, the Grizzly Gazette will host its third consecutive event called Megafest. Their first show was hosted on February 2, 2007 in the Granite Hills cafeteria and featured five bands from the local area of Porterville. Their second show was hosted on November 16, 2008, which featured six bands and was also hosted in the cafeteria located on the campus of Granite Hills.
Megafest will be hosted in the same area, the Granite Hills High School cafeteria, the address is 1701 E. Putnam; the cost will be $5; and estimated times are from 2:00 p.m. exactly and attendees must clear by 10:00 p.m. The show is not expected to follow out until 10:00 p.m. because of the use of two stages, which will help speed up the duration of the show. This show is open to all high school students with a valid high school ID and none will be permitted in without it.
These events that the Gazette hosts are called shows. People commonly get shows and concerts mixed up; fact of the matter is that the two are very different yet so much alike. Concerts are usually hosted by professional or better known venues, which feature bigger bands that are mostly signed to a big record label. Shows are usually hosted at local venues, featuring local bands and on occasion some bigger and better known bands.
The Gazette encourages everyone to come out and support these twelve bands that are dedicating their time to play for Porterville. Also, a huge “thank you” goes out to Granite Hills High School’s principal, Mrs. Veryl Ann Duncan who is allowing this show to take place.
