Friday, March 14, 2008, Grizzly choir students left school for their weekend trip to Anaheim California. The choir group had a one o’clock appointment scheduled to perform in the Heritage Festival at Fullerton College.

When the students arrived at the college nerves began to kick in, “I’m a little anxious considering we’re competing with many other schools not only from California, but from other states as well,” stated Junior Alcaraz

Both Chamber and Concert choirs performed at the college for various judges from around the state. Each choir had the ability to work with one judge and receive valuable tips for future concerts and shows.

When the concert finally ended the students were relieved and felt good about their performance as well as the conductor, Ms. Susanna Efseaff who said “Team, I am very pleased with how you performed today…it made my heart happy.”

The same night Ms. Efseaff planned for the students to attend a Pirate Show in Buena Park which all the students enjoyed, “Yellow! Yellow!” shouted Jonathan Aparicio “That was our team. It was so was rad man! I got to be a pirate! The whole day set us off to a great weekend.”

Once the pirate show was over, the group headed back to the hotel to catch some sleep for the next day; Disneyland was awaiting their arrival.

That morning the choir woke, excited for the all day event at Disneyland. As soon as they got to the gates of the place where “dreams come true,” the students were set free to play as they wished.

Later that night the awards ceremony began at nine p.m. and ended around ten thirty. A dance followed the awards show for the students who participated and was over at midnight.

Chamber Choir took 2nd place and received a silver plaque. While Concert Choir got 3rd and brought home a silver plaque as well.

To end a well earned break the choral group stopped off at the Santa Monica beach, before returning home Sunday morning.
