The band She is the Disaster, a hardcore/metal band, has tried to make the music scene their own by changing up the style a little more than usual. The band officially came together August 30, 2006 , changing their name several times from the name Shapes and Colors and finally settling on the name She is The Disaster. With members like, Joseph Murillo (vocals), Jose Rodriguez (vocals) getting their singing inspiration from the band HeavyHeavyLowLow, Philip Lopez (drums) playing since Jr.high through high school. Darion (guitarist) is more of a Number 12 Looks like You sound, while Anthony (guitarist on the leave) has a very heavy like Through the Eyes of the Dead sound Justin keyboardist completes the band. From a few changes like adding Chris Hallert their (bassist) and soon to be leaving Anthony Porjales (guitar) is getting substituted with the newest member Kris Williams, SITD have, made the music scene their own.

They majority of She is the Disaster were not in any other band before, said Jose Rodriguez (vocals), “the rest of us were fresh as a head of lettuce to the music scene! So all this has been a very fun and exciting experience all worth the time and effort we put in to the band.” The band came together when best friends Jose and Joseph had the idea to start a band and were looking for some members who where for real about their dream. They started off just doing covers of bands such as: As I Lay Dying to Underoath. It was so far a basic metal/hardcore sound they were going for. Just touching the surface of what they would become, tying to get to know each other and see how far they can stretch their talents using it to the fullest. Trying to add other elements off styles of music in this like jazz, and inspiration from today’s metal/hardcore bands.

As of right now they are in the process of writing new material so they can make a brand new demo! It’s harder, faster, but still keeps its Edge! So look out for a new demo and also shirts are in the making too! They just got sponsored by Scapula a T-shirt company also sponsoring bands like Arsonist get All the Girls, See You Next Tuesday, and Dr. Acula. Right now they are in the process of setting up a winter tour with their good friends "In Times Of Distress" and A band from Texas called "Evellying." They will go through Texas, New Mexico, Arizona, then California and the head home.

Playing a few shows this gave them their confidence, but what really got the ready was in January 2007 where they had their best show of the music career. It was Hmong New year at the Merced fairgrounds. “The sound and the energy were off the chain and we just busted loose! Our Stage performance was outstanding: the crowd was dancing and cheering for us. It was the show that put us on the map and really boasted our self-esteem as a band!” said Jose. They have played a lot of places here in California like Merced, Santa Rosa, Fresno, Madera, San Francisco, Tulare, Lindsey and even here in Porterville at the sixth Rockfest. They have shared the stage with bands like: Stalin’s War, Fight The Battle, Before I Wake, Capistrano, Rise Of Caligula, Return From Exile, Sunday Airline, Memnto Mori and soon to add to that list are Moria, Katsumoto, Azusa, Jet Black Horror, Seven Gates, and Heroshima, “Well we have a very edgy style; we’re not your typical hardcore/death metal band! Some of us played in our high school bands so we use a lot of jazz in our music,” Explained Jose Rodriguez..

“Well to some us up, "You Win Some And You Lose Some...But You Live...You live To Fight Another Day." This quote means to us that you have good shows and you have bad shows you have you ups and your downs but at the end of the day you keep on doing what you love and that’s making music!” nicely said by singer Jose.

And with permission from SITD, we give you Benny Jean off their demo "The Mindless Chariot and it's Horseman."
