A Sudden Tragedy, no way!

"We just want to have a good time, doing what we do, when we do it,” said Alex Hernandez; he’s the guitarist of a well known local metal band called A Sudden Tragedy.
A Sudden Tragedy came together as a whole November of 2005; each member with a history from previous local bands. The founding fathers of this band are Alex Hernandez (guitarist), Justin Morillo (bass), brothers Rigo Fernandez the drummer and guitarist Rueben Fernandez and Steven Seven who was the original singer. Both Alex and Justin played in a previous band by the name of A Dying Ember. The Fernandez brothers also played in now extinct band, Waltzing Matilda. Waltzing Matilda is a band name that strikes old memories in the hearts of some senior avid listeners in the core genre. The band had a great reputation as one of bands that made up the heart of the hardcore scene in Lindsay; fans were extremely sad to see them part. But their music stills screams from their sacred metaphorical grave.
Steven, Justin, and Alex are long time friends; they were looking for a few members to complete the band. On one day Rigo posted a blog on his MySpace and Alex casually answered back asking him if he would like to be in a band. During this time, all were oblivious to the fact that Rigo would become their permanent drummer for AST.
The band had their jam session two weeks before their first show without even having a song written. The first show they landed was at Fresno venue, Plan B, and the kids automatically got into the tunes and that one show also opened the ears of many venue hosts which in the end landed them more shows.
Later in AST’s career, they were signed to a label in Los Angeles called Infinite Strength Records. As time went by they played in many different towns and cities such as Los Angeles, Fresno, Bakersfield, and many other places with well known bands such as Emmure, Unite and Conquer, Moria, Vanna, Dr. Acula, and Four letter lie. Kids all over the valley could be asked if they knew who A Sudden Tragedy was and most will say yes and tell a short story of the amazing excitement that comes from AST’s set.
Now, AST has a new singer; their old singer, Steven left. AST held many try outs before settling with Josh Lavish, ex-vocalist of Porterville band, Day Of Our Shipwreck. The band jumped quickly back into the music letting their voices and music scream out back into the ears of the youth. AST continued to jam with Josh as their new singer who brought a more brutal sound to the band and they grow stronger and more metal than ever.
AST’s next upcoming show will be April 21 st which you can get all the details about it from their MySpace. The band now has two EP’s out; they remade some of the old songs which are “pretty brutal”. So get excited for that and also a full length album should be dropping sometime this summer with both their classics remade and some new tunes.
