No better way to end an exciting week then to have the Granite Hills High School homecoming rally. Last Friday, October 26, 2007 was the last chance for homecoming nominees to show their fellow classmates the reasons why they should become homecoming king and queen.

To start off the rally junior Ashley Bates and Jocelyn Patino had the crowd pumped up for the awaiting rally. Homecoming king candidate Colin Mulberry was the first face to be seen when “leaning like a cholo” down the road. Each candidate had the opportunity to have their 10 seconds of fame when strutting their assets down the catwalk, which was designed as a road.

King Candidates:
Collin Mulberry
Manuel Herrera
Benny Thongsaone
Doug Maynor
Omar Lopez
Miguel Gonzalez

Queen Candidates:
Victoria Irwin
Bianca Abasta
Quaraya Fuston
Nancy Alvarado
Sylvia Ramirez
Jackie Zamora

After the last candidate who was Sylvia “the firecracker” Ramirez the varsity cheerleading squad performed a short routine called “ Hollywood.”

Throughout the rally queen candidates performed a routine to “Shut up and drive,” by Rhianna and the king candidates performed a routine to “No parking on the dance floor,” by Midnight Star.

“There was always something going on for the audience to be entertained by,” says Ashley Bates a junior ASB member.

To end the rally the main performance was a couples dance with both king and queen candidates, to the famous “Grease Lighting.”

Sara Rodriguez an ASB member stated, “The rally was a success and it seemed as if everyone enjoyed the rally.”
