The Orange Works Café is a bang for your buck as well as taste buds! The small restaurant is located on the corner of Highway 65 and Avenue 196. Store hours are 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. Tuesday through Saturday.

The café is known for their fresh homemade orange ice cream served daily. A different surprise flavor is served every day. The surprise flavors include Oreo, pomegranate, coconut, chocolate, vanilla, strawberry, peach, and pistachio. All fruit flavors are made with real fresh fruit and thus depend on the season to be served.

Their smallest ice cream size barely qualifies as “small,” but is just $2.50, while the largest size is just a buck more. The café also sells ice cream quarts for $5.50 so that you can still enjoy the sweet treat at home.

If ice cream isn’t your thing, the Orange Works also has on their menu assorted specialty coffees and smoothies.

Although the homemade ice cream is this café’s specialty, don’t miss out on their great sandwiches. I personally recommend the Smoked Ham on a fresh baked Mexican-French roll. The other sandwiches to choose from, each at five dollars when you order it alone, are the roasted turkey, pastrami, tri-tip, vegetarian, and lettuce wrap. There is also a Garden salad available to order for $4.25.

The lunch special is your best bet at about eight dollars and includes: any sandwich of your choice, a bag of potato chips, canned soda, and a junior ice cream.

This restaurant is my favorite yet and is awarded five Grizzly paws. You can even call ahead to have them prepare your order at 559-568-2658.
