Young journalists attending the Journalism Education Association/National Scholastic Press Association spring convention are being offered a opportunity of a life time. JEA/NSPA along with Warner Bros. Television, are forming a partnership, to bring one of televisions most buzzed about shows, Gossip Girl, to the convention April 19.

Gossip Girl is a television show based off of the best selling book series written by Cecily von Ziegesar. The show is based on a group of teenagers growing up on the upper east side of Manhattan, New York, dealing with the basic drama of a teenager’s life along with sex, drugs, and academics. Chace Crawford, Leighton Meester, Blake Lively, and Ed Westwick are some of the stars of the show.

They will be hosting a season premiere were student journalists can watch the showing and after the premiere will be allowed to interview members of the cast.

Students and advisers will be invited to attend the showing of a first-run episode, followed by interviews with members of the cast and production team, according to the NSPA Anaheim Blog.

“It’s a great opportunity for students to sit in on the interview and see how it will work when they start their careers,” stated Sara Rodriguez, a journalism student attending the conference. “It’s also pretty cool to meet some of the stars, especially since they aren’t far from our ages.”

The premiere will be April 19, at 6 p.m. and should last until about 7:30 pm.

For those that will not be attending the convention, the season premier will air April 21 at 8 p.m. on the CW.
