Stalked by Your Shadow
Jerica Fagan| 09/03/07 | Poetry

Out of nowhere, your heart begins to race
You look over your shoulder to find a trace
Of a following stranger without a face
You only see your shadow

You continue to find a way
To get the stranger to go away
The air cuts short with the coming of the day
You only see your shadow

You sit down on a log
And try to see through the morning fog
You’re sweating like a hog
You only see your shadow

You finally begin to calm down
Relieved but cannot relieve your frown
You get your second wind and head for town
Taking along your stalker
Your shadow
