The Road of Life
Erik Bartlett| 2/21/08 | Poetry
So many ways to go on in life,
Who knows what I shall choose,
If it is water polo,
My basketball dreams will be singing in the blues,
But it all comes down to G.P.A. and AP in my life,
Because they are what really matter,
Then on to college,
USC, Stanford, Cal and Pepperdine,
All worthy but only one is right,
This is when faith in God is my true guide,
He will get me on the right track,
I would like to play college sports,
But as before,
G.P.A. and honors are what matter,
When Harvard is what is wanted
Still down this road is a career and family,
Law, business, and engineering seem nice,
The family I want,
For I know there will be some for whom I care
But the time and place are unknown,
For I’m still in this time zone
Last is well, the end of my life,
Still loving and caring for my wife,
And grandkids are on the way,
It will be fun to see them ply,
Now all these things I hope are down the road,
But who will know until I pass them on my way to the end,
For now my goal is to live the fullest of lives.
